Dynamo Altai plays there because the arena, like the club, belongs to Barnaul rather than to any single era of its hockey.

What now skates under blue and white was assembled in May 2019, when the Altai Krai's sports ministry folded the existing city club into a partnership with the Dynamo sports society, splitting ownership between the regional government, the Barnaul administration and Dynamo's own regional branch.

Gafar Satarov was named the league's most valuable player in that 2021/22 season, the same campaign that closed with the regular-season trophy.

Before any of that, the club's earlier identity as HC Altai had already won a Siberian and Far East zonal title and topped the Russian Hockey League's Eastern Conference.
