Fides St. Gallen

Fides plays at the AthletikZentrum St. Gallen, a venue that has watched the club for well over a century.

Founded in 1910, Fides never claimed a Swiss title or a Cup. The women's team came closer to silverware in the mid-1980s, taking the runners-up spot in successive seasons and reaching continental competition in the EHF Cup Winners' Cup, where a run in 1985/86 ended against Sverresborg in the round of 16.

Robert Weber's arrival in 2024 brought a player with Bundesliga experience back to a club now built around cooperation rather than solo ambition: the first team competes as the joint SG Fides/Otmar side with St. Otmar in the Nationalliga B, while Fides keeps its own youth and lower-tier structure alive underneath it. That same instinct produced the Ostschweizer Handball Akademie, set up in 2019 with St. Otmar and Goldach-Rorschach to train the region's young players together instead of apart, and in 2022 it led Fides to open a Unified team for players with disabilities.

None of that has softened the local rivalries. The derby with St. Otmar still decides bragging rights inside the city, and the Eastern Switzerland derby against HC Arbon carries its own weight, both fought out in front of the same 500 seats at the Parkstrasse ground.
