Geneva's basketball scene sits on two sides of the city, and for years neither the Grand-Saconnex club nor the Devils could carry it alone. In 2010 the two merged, and under Imad Fattal as founding president the combined roster took the name Lions de Genève, playing in red, white and black. The club inherited more than a fresh crest: the Devils had already put a Swiss Cup and an SBL Cup on the shelf in 2003–04, and the new entity picked up that thread rather than starting one.

It did not take long to justify the merger. The Lions won their first Swiss Basketball League title in 2012–13 under coach Andrej Štimac, with Justin Rutty top-scoring and Dušan Mlađan named MVP, then repeated two seasons later with Babacar Touré leading the scoring column. The club went a decade without adding to that tally before the 2024–25 season, when Patrick Pembele's side took the championship again; Paul Gravet was named Finals MVP, with Shaun Doss as top scorer. Three league titles, four Swiss Cups and five SBL Cups now sit in the cabinet, spread across two eras separated by that long gap.

Home games are split between the Pavillon des Sports in Champel and the Salle du Pommier in Grand-Saconnex, a arrangement that still traces the shape of the 2010 merger. Thierry Moreno took over the presidency from Fattal after the 2021–22 season.

Geneva's derby runs against BBC Nyon, close enough down the lake to make the fixture a genuine local occasion, while the Vaud derby against Pully Lausanne Foxes carries the same regional edge from the other side of the cantonal border. Neither is geography, though, when Fribourg Olympic is involved — that rivalry has been built almost entirely in finals.
