Kjelsås

Oslo's Nordre Aker district produces more than one football club, and Kjelsås has spent over a century sharing that patch of the city with a neighbour it still meets every season it can. Grown out of the wider Kjelsås Idrettslag, the football side traces back to March 1913.

Kjelsås has spent its life shuttling around the middle tiers of Norwegian football. The high point came in 1997, when the club won the 1. divisjon, the country's second tier, a title it came close to on four other occasions without getting over the line.

Cup football gave Kjelsås its sharpest moments. In 2011 the club knocked Vålerenga, a top-flight side, out of the Norwegian Cup in the second round, the sort of result a lower-division team keeps referring back to for years. It went one better in 2023, reaching the semi-finals before Molde ended the run.

Kjelsås plays in blue and white, with black reserved for away days, and home matches are still watched from Grefsen stadion.
