Sandefjord were the side that ended it: 4-1 in the semi-final of the Norwegian cup in 1957. The same season the club finished second in group A of the Hovedserien, as it had three years earlier.
The club had been formed in the village of Strømmen, in what is now the municipality of Lillestrøm, on 25 September 1911, and took the first regional championship of Romerike the following year.
What Strømmen became known for nationally came later and came from the younger sides. It was named the tournament's best club for the years 1979 to 1981, an award carrying the name of Rolf Hofmos.
The senior side spent 1988 in the merged top flight, finishing eleventh. Its route back up in this century was slower: the third division in 2006, then the second in 2009, which carried the team into the 1. divisjon.
