Egersund

Football in Egersund started outside the club that plays it today. A gymnastics society, Egersunds TF, kept a football section until the players broke away to run themselves, and on 16 September 1919 they registered Egersunds IK. An earlier attempt had already come and gone: Egersund Fodboldsklubb, put together in the spring of 1909.

The club has never won a trophy. No Norwegian championship, no cup — the deepest run in the NM Cupen took them to the third round, in 1961 and again in 2012, half a century apart and with nothing in between to match either. The reference point most supporters use instead is 2023, when the club finished top of Avdeling 1 in the 2. divisjon and won promotion. Before that, the marker was 1957, when Egersund reached the second tier's top flight.

The colours cause some confusion. Officially the club is blue and white, and it wore blue and white shirts from 1922 to 1925. In practice the shirts have been yellow and black for decades, long enough that the supporters' group calls itself 2830 Gul og Svart. In 2025 the club brought blue and white back for the away kit, the first time in a century.
