Novopolotsk

In 2011 the roster in Novopolotsk thinned out mid-season as money ran short. It stayed in the Belarusian Extraliga anyway.

The name on the shirt has changed more often than the club itself. A merger with the army club SKA followed, producing Khimik-SKA, before the name settled back to plain Khimik in 2016 under sponsorship from Naftan.

The academy has outlasted every rebrand. It carries the name of L. V. Novoizhilov, and its clearest export is a pair of brothers, Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn, who left Novopolotsk for the NHL and played for Montreal and Nashville.

Home games are played at the Ice Palace, in front of no more than 1,200 people, and the sharpest of those games come against Vitebsk, a fixture known locally as the Northern Derby. The colours on the shirt — blue, white and yellow — are lifted straight from the city's own flag, in 1964.
