Pontault-Combault Handball

Getting there in 2018 took an odd route: the club won promotion through the Division 2 barrages without winning a single match in the series, climbing on draws alone.

In the Coupe de France, the furthest they have gone is a semi-final, in 2006.

Thierry Perreux wore the shirt from 1996 to 1998, a spell that came after he had already won the world title with France in 1995 and taken Olympic bronze in 1992. Robin Cantegrel came through the club in two stints, 2017 to 2019 and 2022 to 2024, and earned his first France cap in 2019 while on the books. Matches against Massy Essonne carry their own weight in the Île-de-France, known locally as the derby francilien.

Supporters still know the team by the name of the town's own people, Les Pontellois-Combalusiens, in blue and yellow at the Espace Roger-Boisrame. The club itself began in 1967 as Étoile Sportive de Pontault-Combault, before a 1974 renaming to Union Municipale Sports de Pontault-Combault Handball Club, and it was not until 2018 that the name settled into the shorter Pontault-Combault Handball still used today.
