Regar-TadAZ

Seven Tajikistan championships in eight seasons, from 2001 to 2008 with only 2005 breaking the run — that is the record Regar-TadAZ point to before anything else. The club also lifted the AFC President's Cup three times in the same stretch, in 2005, 2008 and 2009.

The team began in 1975 as Metallurg, the works side of the aluminium plant in what was then the town of Regar. It took the plant's later names as its own: Regar in 1990, then Regar-TadAZ in 1994. In the Soviet period its reach went no further than the republic, and its only titles were the Tajik SSR championships of 1977 and 1989.

Money trouble caught up with the club by December 2013, when a sponsor's problems pushed it towards bankruptcy. Things came to a head in 2020, when Regar-TadAZ finished bottom of the Higher League and went down; a second-tier title brought it straight back up the following year. The response since has been the Tajikistan Cup in both 2024 and 2025.

Istiklol Dushanbe is the name that matters most to Regar-TadAZ now, the club that has taken over the domestic dominance it once held. Khurshed Mahmudov, with more than 50 caps for Tajikistan, wears the captain's armband; Olimjon Boboev's 38 goals in the 2003 season remain the club's benchmark.

Home games are played in yellow and blue at the TALCO Arena in Tursunzoda, a ground once known simply as Metallurg, holding 13,770.
