Samartex

Samartex took the Ghana Premier League title in the 2023–24 season, only their second year in the top flight after promotion. The championship, secured under coach Nurudeen Amadu, was the club's first major trophy, and it opened the door to the CAF Champions League. A few months later they added the Ghana FA Super Cup, beating Nsoatreman FC 1–0.

The club grew out of the Samartex Timber & Plywood Company, set up in 1995 as a works team for its employees in Samreboi, in Ghana's Western Region — hence the nickname the Timber Giants, and the tree pattern worked into the green-and-black home shirt. For most of its existence Samartex played Division Two football in the Western Region, only breaking out of it by winning Zone 2 of the Division One League in 2022 and reaching the Premier League for the first time. The 2024–25 season brought a reminder of how recent that arrival is: a relegation fight that they survived.

Samartex Park, known locally as the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, stands out among Ghanaian grounds for its wooden construction, a nod to the timber trade the club was born from. Their fiercest fixture is the Western derby against Medeama SC, with Bibiani Gold Stars also treated as a regional rival; games against Berekum Chelsea or Nsoatreman carry no such local weight.

The title-winning squad had its own stories, but Evans Osei Wusu stood above the rest — the club's top scorer that season and NASCO Player of the Month.
