SKA-VMF St. Petersburg

The idea behind SKA-VMF grew out of a bigger club's need for somewhere to send its young players: it exists as the development side for HC SKA. That dependence has shaped the club since 2008, including a stretch of geography almost nobody who follows only the parent team would guess — three years spent based in Kondopoga, in Karelia, playing under the names VMF-Karelia and SKA-Karelia before the roster moved back to Saint Petersburg and took the name SKA-Neva. In July 2025 the club reverted to its original name, SKA-VMF.

Orange joined the club's blue and white in 2016, but the navy theme runs deeper than the colours. Yaroslav Askarov passed through the club on his way up. Evgeny Ketov has run the bench since 2025.

Back-to-back silver medals in the Supreme Hockey League in 2017/18 and 2018/19 were followed by bronze in 2019/20, alongside minor tournament wins such as the Silk Road Cup and the Shilov Memorial.
