Tottenham Hotspur Women go into the season in the Women's Super League, still measuring themselves against a run that took them to Wembley two seasons ago and ended 4–0 against Manchester United in the FA Cup final. Martin Ho took over as head coach in July 2025, succeeding Robert Vilahamn, who had built the side that reached that final before leaving in 2025.

The club did not start as Spurs at all. It was founded in 1985 as Broxbourne Ladies, by Sue Sharples and Kay Lovelock, and carried that name for six years before adopting the Tottenham Hotspur identity in 1991–92; the current Women's tag replaced Ladies in 2019. Most home games are played at Brisbane Road in Leyton, a ground shared rather than built for them, while the occasional bigger fixture moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the crowd can run into the tens of thousands rather than the low thousands Brisbane Road holds.

Bethany England arrived in 2023 for a club-record fee, one of a string of signings — Alice Sombath and Signe Gaupset among the more recent — that has reshaped the squad from the one that won promotion and cups in the lower tiers a decade ago. Jenna Schillaci belongs to that earlier era: she spent more than ten years at the club and became its first female Hall of Fame inductee in 2026, a marker of the years before the WSL move rather than after it.

None of that history carries the weight of the fixture with Arsenal. The North London derby is the match that defines the calendar for Tottenham's supporters, the one result that outlasts whatever the table says either side of it.
