La Salle Coliseum
Bacolod, Philippines
The La Salle Coliseum sits inside the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod, a place where the court hardens under lights rather than grass yielding to rain. It opened in 1995.
The capacity is eight thousand, and the number has not budged since the doors first opened. The Negros Hacienderos play their home games on this floor. Before them, the Negros Slashers ran the floor for the Metropolitan Basketball Association until the league folded. The Philippine Basketball Association sends teams here for exhibition matches, including a recent clash that finished in a tie.
Concerts have used the space when the balls are put away. A band called Side A played here in December. Michael Learns to Rock is scheduled to perform in November of next year. The venue also hosted national karate championships in 1996 and again in 2007.
When the All-Star Game ended in a tie, the room felt full.
