Bacolod Masskara

There is no 2026 season for Bacolod to play out. In July that year the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League expelled the franchise outright, mid-competition, after a game against the Bulacan Kuyas on 28 July in which Bacolod failed to score for the final seven minutes and forty-eight seconds of a 100-64 defeat. The league ruled it game manipulation; head coach Lency Aransazo and several players were banned for life.

The club had barely kept a name long enough to be known by it. Founded in 2019 as the Bacolod Master Sardines, it went through the All-Star Bacolod Ballers, Bacolod Bingo Plus, Bacolod City of Smiles and Bacolod Tubo Slashers before the 2026 season, when it took the name Bacolod Masskara — a nod to the city's MassKara Festival, and the source of the team's other common name, the Maskaras.

Home games are played at the La Salle Coliseum, an 8,000-seat venue shared with the Negros Muscovados, now the Negros Hacienderos; fixtures between the two are billed locally as the Negros Derby. The franchise has never won an MPBL national title. Its closest run came in 2022, playing as Bacolod Bingo Plus, when it reached the Division Semifinals before losing to the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines.

Aransazo had coached the team since the Tubo Slashers era; the previous staff, Pao Javelona and Noy Baclao, publicly distanced themselves from the scandal after it broke. His ban is now the fact most attached to his name at the club.
