Bulacan Kuyas

The Bulacan Kuyas came back into the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League in 2023 after sitting out the 2022 season, and the return has not gone smoothly: no playoff spot in 2023, none in 2024, and a new head coach, Allan Salangsang, taking over from 2026. The green now on the jerseys replaced the pink and purple the team wore through its first years in the league, a scheme it carried during a sponsorship run with Mighty Sports that briefly had the club playing as Bulacan Kuyas-Mighty Sports.

The franchise exists because of one family. Jose Antonio Reyes Sy-Alvarado, who represented Bulacan's first district in the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2022, backed the team from its founding in 2017 as one of the league's charter members, and its name comes straight from his own nickname, Kuya — the Tagalog term for an older brother.

Baliwag Star Arena, 5,000 seats, has been the team's base, though it has also played out of Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium and the Malolos Sports and Convention Center. Jay-R Taganas built his name over those early seasons, earning MPBL All-Star selections in 2019 and 2020.

There is no single named rival, but the games that matter are against the other Central Luzon sides — Pampanga Giant Lanterns and Bataan Risers chief among them.
