Palacio de los Deportes de La Rioja

Logroño, Spain

On the map larioja.org

The Palacio de los Deportes de La Rioja sits at Avenida de Moncalvillo, 2, and is a modern structure. The standard seating holds 3,809 fans, but the space can spring a surprise when the telescopic stands are deployed, pushing that number to 4,500. This capacity for expansion is why the venue is rarely quiet. It is not just a home for BM Logroño La Rioja in the Liga ASOBAL or CB Clavijo in basketball; it is a hall for concerts and large gatherings where the line between sport and performance blurs.

The arena has been here since 2003, a constant in a city that changes faster than the buildings. There is talk of a change in name, with plans to honour Luis de la Fuente , the national football team coach, but for now, it remains a place where the local teams play and the city gathers. It is a functional space that has learned to hold its breath when the stakes are high.
