Playtime Filoil Centre
San Juan, Philippines
Formerly: The Arena in San Juan, Filoil Flying V Centre, Filoil Flying V Arena, Filoil EcoOil Centre
Opened in 2006 by the San Juan City Government, the building replaced the older San Juan Coliseum. The exterior signage now reads Playtime Filoil Centre, a rebrand that followed a series of corporate name changes including the Filoil Flying V Centre and the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
In the photos, you can see the branding of the current sponsors running along the barrier, and the scoreboard hanging centrally above the painted lines. The surface is natural hardwood, polished for the ball to bounce. The building also hosts esports events, most notably the 2019 Southeast Asian Games competitions, where the national teams won gold in Dota 2, Starcraft, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. That night, the arena pulsed with a different kind of energy, but the structure remains the same.It sits at the corner of Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue and Santolan Road, tucked into the urban fabric of Metro Manila. The place holds its own for the local leagues, and for the occasional international tournament that needs a reliable indoor space. There is no single attendance record to cite, but the seats are often full for the high-profile collegiate rivalries that play out here.
