Juami Tiongson has spent enough seasons in green and black to count as the closest thing Terrafirma has to a cornerstone, and in the 2023–24 season it showed: he was named the PBA's Most Improved Player. Terrafirma Dyip has never won a PBA title or a conference crown, and for most of its life that fact sat next to another one — until May 2024, the team had not won a single playoff series. It finally did, beating Barangay Ginebra's frequent trade partner San Miguel Beermen 106–95 in the 2024 Philippine Cup quarterfinals, its first appearance at that stage since 2016.

The franchise carries its name lightly, or rather it has carried several. Approved as one of three PBA expansion teams in April 2014, it played its early years as Kia Sorento, then Kia Carnival, then under Mahindra ownership, then back to Kia Picanto, then Columbian Dyip, before Terra Firma Realty Development Corporation took over in June 2020 and settled the identity as Terrafirma Dyip. "Dyip" is Filipino for jeep, a nod to the jeepney and to the idea of getting by and getting through.

Manny Pacquiao was the franchise's first overall pick in that 2014 draft and served as playing coach through its first three seasons, before the boxing schedule pulled him elsewhere. Home games are shared around Metro Manila the way most PBA teams' are, with the Playtime Filoil Centre in San Juan, seating 6,000, among the regular venues. The rivalry with Ginebra has no formal name, but it has produced real business between the clubs, including the trade that brought Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle to Terrafirma.
