The PBA Governors' Cup is the final conference of the Philippine Basketball Association season. It is one of three annual tournaments in the league, which operates as a closed franchise system. The competition is organized by the league's Board of Governors and serves as the season's concluding stage. Unlike the All-Filipino Philippine Cup, the Governors' Cup mandates the use of foreign import players for each team. This format distinguishes it from the other conferences, although the intermediate Commissioner's Cup also permits imports under different conditions. The tournament was inaugurated in 1993 when the league renamed its existing third conference. Historically, it has been a platform for high-stakes play, creating a playoff-like atmosphere for the year. The structure of the competition underwent significant changes for the 2024 season. Teams are divided into two groups of six for a double round-robin regular season. The top four teams from each group advance to crossover quarterfinals, where Group A teams face Group B teams in a best-of-five series. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals follow a best-of-seven format. A notable rule change introduced this year includes a four-point line and a uniform height limit of 6-foot-6 for imports. San Miguel Beermen is the most successful franchise in the tournament's history with five titles. Alaska Aces and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel each hold four championships. The current reigning champion is TNT Tropang Giga, which won back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024. The league currently features twelve teams, including Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Blackwater Bossing, Converge FiberXers, Macau Black Bears, Magnolia Hotshots, and Meralco Bolts. The tournament experienced a hiatus from 2003 to 2010 before being reinstated.
