Châlons

Éric Colin became president of the Hockey Club Châlonnais in 2021. The 2021–22 season was the one in which the club dropped from Division 2 back to Division 3.

The way back took two seasons. In 2022–23 the Gaulois finished second in the Northern Pool of Division 3. In 2023–24 they became vice-champions of France in that division, which earned promotion to Division 2 for 2024–25. They had made the same climb before. In 2016–17 they won the Division 3 title, and in their first season back in Division 2 they finished top of the Northern Pool before going out in the quarter-finals.

Hockey reached Châlons-en-Champagne earlier than the club did. The city had its first ice rink in 1972, and the association was registered on June 1, 1977. The Patinoire Cité Glace, on Rue Augustin Fresnel, was built with 700 seats and later expanded to 1,100. The Gaulois play there in blue and yellow.

The nearest rivalry is with the Phénix de Reims, a short distance away, and it matters more than any other fixture. The Scorpions de Mulhouse are the other regional opponent the club measures itself against. Neither game has a name of its own.

In the 2024–25 Coupe de France the club reached the round of 32, its best run in the competition. Behind the bench that season was Juraj Sadlon, the coach who led the side in Division 2 after the promotion.
