Courchevel

In 2017 the club took the name Hockey Courchevel-Méribel-Pralognan, HCMP for short, and reached the semi-finals of Division 1 the same year.

The name is the record of three villages in the Savoie Alps pooling their players. In 1985 the side merged with Hockey Club Méribel and became Tarentaise. Five years later it joined Courchevel to form Hockey Club Val Vanoise. That was the team that won Division 2 in 2015, after finishing top of the regular season in both 2014 and 2015.

The Patinoire de Méribel, also called the Patinoire olympique, was built for the 1992 Winter Olympics and held 6,420 spectators during the Games. It now seats 2,500. A rink sized for an Olympic tournament is home to the club, and the reduction in seating followed the Games.

The main rivalry is with the Pingouins de Morzine-Avoriaz, another Alpine resort side. Their meetings are billed as the Derby des Savoie, or the Derby alpin.

Two of the players the club has produced are Alexandre Pascal and Lauric Convert. Both were licences bleues, eligible for the national team, and both played for the French under-20s while on the books here.

The first title came long before any merger. In 1980 the club won Division 2 as Pralognan-la-Vanoise, a mountain village team.
