Strasbourg

Dragons de Rouen took the 2011 Ligue Magnus final 3-0, and Strasbourg went home as vice-champions. Five years earlier the club had won Division 1 and reached the top flight for the first time, with Stéphane Hohnadel as captain and Daniel Bourdages behind the bench.

The club, known as Étoile Noire, the Black Star, began in 2000 with a narrow aim: to give the city elite hockey structures. It runs as an independent professional body, tied to the Club des Sports sur Glace Strasbourg-Alsace. Its colours are black, yellow and white, and it plays at the 1,250-seat Patinoire Iceberg.

The years after 2011 were less kind. Strasbourg finished last in 2018–2019 and dropped back to Division 1. Since then they have been rebuilding there and often finish in the top four. In between, the reserve team won the Division 3 title in 2012.

Hohnadel is now Director of Sport, so the 2006 captain still works at the club. Michal Duras, another former captain, came back as head coach for the 2024–2025 season.

The 2011 final remains the high point. Strasbourg have not been back to it, and they have not won the Magnus Cup.
