Match report
Hammarby saw off Eskilstuna United 3-0 in the Damallsvenskan's twentieth round on Saturday. The hosts took all three points with a performance that made the gap between second and sixth place in the table look even wider. To be fair, the result was never really in doubt once the opening goal landed.
Alice Carlsson opened the scoring in the seventh minute, a sharp finish that caught the visitors off guard. Rylie Combs picked up a yellow card for Eskilstuna twenty minutes later, a sign of the frustration building on the bench. Vilde Hasund doubled the lead with a penalty just after the break, and by then the visitors had found no answer.
Eskilstuna made changes in search of something, but the game was already slipping away. Combs came off in the seventieth minute alongside Linnea Prambrant, while Hammarby brought on Marin Ida Hermannsdottir and Vilde Hasund herself. Vilma Koivisto added the third goal in the seventy-eighth minute, and the old head settled them down for the final quarter.
The statistics tell the story without needing extra words. Hammarby registered 136 attacks to Eskilstuna's 77, and their 15 shots on target produced three goals. The visitors managed only four shots on target and one blocked effort. We had called for a home win with 69 per cent confidence, and the dominance on the pitch backed that up.
Hammarby move closer to the summit with the win, sitting on 47 points from nineteen games. Eskilstuna remain in sixth with 27 points after suffering their eighth defeat of the season. The scoreline and the goal difference both reflect a side that let the game flow and punished the opposition when chances came.
