About the player
Andri Lucas Guðjohnsen spent his youth years moving between some of Spain's biggest academies: Barcelona, Gavà, Espanyol and then Real Madrid, where he arrived in 2018. He turned professional with Real Madrid Castilla in July 2021 and left a year later.
His career moved on in Sweden. In July 2022 he joined IFK Norrköping. Reports differ on the terms: some describe a free transfer after his release from Real Madrid, others a fee above €1 million. In August 2023 he went to Denmark, joining Lyngby BK on loan with an obligation to buy. The club exercised that obligation in April 2024 for a fee of about 4.5 million SEK.
The move to Gent came weeks later. On 7 June 2024 Lyngby sold him to the Belgian club for roughly €3 million, a record fee received by Lyngby.
Gent were not his last stop in the near term. In August 2025 he joined Blackburn Rovers of the English Championship for a reported €2.2 million, after a single year in Belgium.
For Iceland he has earned 39 caps and scored 10 goals for the senior side as of late 2025. Born in Westminster, London, he chose to represent Iceland rather than England.
An 188cm right-footed forward, he has played in Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and England, and his fee has gone up with most of those moves.
