About the player
Alexander Isak joined AIK's youth academy at the age of six and made his senior debut for the club in 2016, moving to Borussia Dortmund the following January for a fee of around €9 million. A loan spell at Willem II preceded his transfer to Real Sociedad in 2019, where he settled into the role that would define his career: a centre-forward. He won the Copa del Rey with the Basque club in 2020 and was named Sweden's Footballer of the Year in 2021.
Newcastle United paid a club-record £63 million for him in August 2022. He took the Premier League's Player of the Month award in March 2023 and again in December 2024, and lifted the EFL Cup with Newcastle in the 2024–25 season. In September 2025 he joined Liverpool in a British record transfer of £125 million.
For Sweden, Isak made his debut against Ivory Coast in January 2017 and has since won 62 caps, scoring 18 goals. He played at Euro 2020.
