Strawberry Arena , in Solna just outside Stockholm, holds close to 50,000 for a full house. It is here that Sweden gather for the nights that matter most.

The Swedish Football Association took shape in December 1904, and the national side needed almost four more years to step onto a pitch: the first official match came on 12 July 1908 in Gothenburg, an 11–3 win over Norway. Blue and yellow gave the team its nicknames, Blågult and Tre Kronor.

Olympic gold followed in 1948 in London, with bronze either side of it, in 1924 and 1952. Home advantage worked again in 1992, when the European Championship, staged across Swedish grounds, took the team as far as the semi-finals.

Matches against Denmark and Norway still carry the weight of the Nordic derby. Graham Potter took over as head coach in October 2025, succeeding Jon Dahl Tomasson.

No one wore the shirt to greater effect than Zlatan Ibrahimović .
