About the player
Jacob Widell Zetterström went to the 2026 World Cup as a Sweden goalkeeper and came away with two appearances: the last group game against Japan, which finished 1–1, and the Round of 32 against France, lost 3–0. He has five senior caps in all, the first of them against Iceland in January 2023.
Djurgården signed him in January 2019 and sent him straight back to Lidingö on loan, where he played seven games. The club won the Allsvenskan that year, but he made no league appearances for them.
In 2020 he took a sabbatical to recover from head injuries. He returned to training in January 2021, signed a new two-year contract that March and made his Allsvenskan debut in May. By the time he left he had played 117 competitive matches for Djurgården and kept 47 clean sheets.
In his first season he made 40 appearances and kept nine clean sheets. This season he was nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Month award for October 2025, and the club named a save from Scott Twine its Save of the Season.
