Carlton Morris

Carlton Morris scored Luton Town's first goal in the Premier League, against Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2023. A month later he was on the scoresheet again as the club won its first top-flight match, against Everton.

Getting there took a long time. Morris came through at Norwich City, signed his first professional contract in December 2013 and had already won the FA Youth Cup with the club that year. He also played three times for England at under-19 level, scoring twice. First-team football at Norwich did not follow. Between 2014 and 2021 he was loaned out seven times: to Oxford United, York City, Hamilton Academical, Rotherham United (twice), Shrewsbury Town and Milton Keynes Dons.

The permanent move came in January 2021, when he joined Barnsley. In July 2022 Luton signed him for an undisclosed fee, reported to be between £1.3 million and £2 million.

His first season there brought 20 goals in the 2022–23 Championship. He won the league's Player of the Month award for September 2022 and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year. Luton went through the play-offs and reached the Premier League for the first time, which is what put Morris in the position to score those two goals the following season.

In June 2025 he moved to Derby County on a three-year contract running to 2028. He has not played for the England senior side.
