Abdullah Iqbal

Abdullah Iqbal was part of the Mjällby AIF side that won the club's first Allsvenskan title in 2025. He played 22 league matches that season and set up one goal. Mjällby conceded 17 goals, the fewest in the league. A second trophy followed in the 2025–26 Svenska Cupen, when Mjällby beat Hammarby IF 2–1 in the final on 14 May 2026.

Iqbal was born in Copenhagen and came through the youth system of Brøndby IF, where he spent 2016–17. He then returned to Boldklubben af 1893 (B.93) and worked his way up from 2017. His senior debut came in 2021, and he stayed until August 2024. In 2022–23 B.93 finished as runners-up in the Danish 2nd Division. The following season he was named the club's Player of the Year.

In August 2024 Mjällby signed him from B.93 for €200,000, roughly 1.5 million Danish kroner. At 192 cm, he became a central figure in a defence that helped Mjällby concede the fewest goals in the league a year later.

His market value rose quickly. He was the first Pakistani footballer to reach €1 million on Transfermarkt, which has since put him between €3 million and €4 million.

Iqbal plays for Pakistan, the country of his nationality, and took the captaincy in 2023. That was his busiest year for the national team, with 10 of his 21 caps, and he has not yet scored for them. Two more appearances came in 2026, the year Pakistan won the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament. He has also played twice for the Pakistan U23 side.
