About the player
Alex Williams came through West Bromwich Albion's academy from the age of 11, having joined in September 2016, and earned him a professional contract in January 2023. West Brom rewarded his development with a contract extension in the summer of 2025, running to 2026 with the option of a further year attached.
His senior education so far has come away from the Hawthorns. A short loan spell at Stratford Town in the 2024–25 season gave him eight appearances and a goal, a first taste of first-team football outside the academy system.
Williams's international story runs through Wales rather than England, despite being born in England. He has represented the Welsh age groups from under-17 through to under-21 level, including caps in UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifiers, though a senior cap has not yet followed. A right-back by trade and right-footed, he remains eligible to add to that international résumé as his career develops.
