Balázs Tóth

Balázs Tóth's first international appearance came in the middle of a match against Portugal. On 9 September 2025, in a World Cup qualifier, he replaced the injured Dénes Dibusz and later saved a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo. It was his senior debut for Hungary.

He has been on the books of Puskás Akadémia since his teens. After youth spells in Kazincbarcika and a year in the Fehérvár under-17 side, he returned to the academy and joined the senior squad in 2015. Regular football came on loan at Csákvár in the second tier, where he made 25 appearances in 2018–19.

The next step was to Fehérvár. He went there on loan for 2023–24, played 29 or 30 matches in the top flight, and the club used its purchase option in May 2024 to sign him permanently.

Blackburn Rovers took him in the summer of the same year. On 30 August 2024 he moved to the Championship for a reported fee of about £1 million and signed a contract to June 2027. He has since made more than 45 appearances for the club.

His time at Ewood Park brought recognition from those closest to him. In 2025–26 his team-mates voted him Blackburn Rovers Player of the Year, even though a knee injury kept him out for a large part of the campaign. Across the matches he did play, he kept clean sheets in 26.5 per cent and saved 70.5 per cent of the shots he faced, figures that placed him joint-11th in the division on both counts.

For Hungary he has won six caps, with the Portugal match the one that made his name at international level.
