About the player
Miguel Ângelo Bastos Melo plays under the name Balelo. Born in Carregosa, in the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis, he came up through the youth ranks of CD Feirense, AD Sanjoanense and UD Oliveirense before starting his senior career at FC Cesarense, where he scored five goals in 18 appearances.
He left Benfica Castelo Branco for SC Covilhã, then terminated that contract in October 2024 to sign for CD Caldas until the end of the season. Paredes picked him up on a free transfer the following July.
His transfer to NK Osijek, agreed for an initial fee of €75,000 with add-ons that could take the total to €100,000, stands as the largest sale in Paredes' history. Paredes kept a 15% sell-on clause in the deal. Balelo signed a three-year contract with the Croatian club, where he now wears the number 99 shirt.
