About the player
Bas Huisman spent seven years in the FC Volendam academy before his path took him away from the eastern Netherlands. From Volendam he moved to Almere City, turning out for the reserve side Jong Almere City in the Tweede Divisie during the 2021-22 season, a step that kept him inside the club he now represents at senior level.
The following years took him abroad and back. He joined the German club SV Straelen for a season before returning to the Netherlands with Rijnsburgse Boys, also in the Tweede Divisie. That move did not work out: in March 2024 Rijnsburgse Boys chose not to take up the option in his contract, pointing to his lack of playing time and the arrival of striker Mark van der Weijden as a rival for his position.
Huisman found a new home that summer at Ajax Amateurs, then moved again in February 2025, this time to ADO '20 in the Derde Divisie. RKAV Volendam followed as his next stop, continuing a run of clubs in which he has rarely stayed in one place for long. Each switch has come with the same pattern: a search for regular football rather than a place on the bench, taking him through several tiers of Dutch football and one spell in Germany.
