Benjamin George Cabango

Ben Cabango's first goal as a professional came from a free-kick in European qualifying. Playing on loan for The New Saints in July 2018, he scored in the second leg of the Champions League first qualifying round against KF Shkëndija, a 4–0 home win. He made 25 appearances that half-season, spread across the Cymru Premier, the Welsh Cup and Europe, and The New Saints went on to win the league title in 2018–2019.

The loan came at the end of a youth career spent mostly in Wales. He started at Maindy Corries, an amateur club in Cardiff where his father coached, and stayed until he was 13. Two years in Newport County's academy followed, then a move to Swansea City at 14. In 2018 he captained Swansea's under-19 side to the FAW Welsh Youth Cup, and in June that year he signed his first professional contract.

He returned from The New Saints in January 2019 and has not left Swansea since. He signed extensions in March 2020, running to 2025, and in December 2024, running to 2028. Leeds United, West Ham United, Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg were all linked with him, but no move happened. In January 2025 he was named Swansea captain, the first Welsh player to hold the role permanently since Ashley Williams.

For Wales he made his senior debut on 3 September 2020 in a Nations League match against Finland. He was in the squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and was an unused substitute at both. He was also part of the group for the Euro 2024 play-offs in March 2024, which Wales did not get through. By March 2026 he had 16 senior caps.
