About the player
Boubacar Fofana was born in Paris and came up through the youth ranks at US Torcy before turning professional with SAS Épinal in 2017. A move to AS Saint-Priest followed the next year, then, in January 2019, a switch to Olympique Lyonnais. He spent the second half of that season out on loan at Gazélec Ajaccio, making only a handful of appearances.
His career took shape in Switzerland. Joining Servette FC on a free transfer in October 2020, Fofana established himself as a regular starter, making 47 league appearances and scoring 9 goals during his time at the club. That spell culminated in the Swiss Cup in 2024. He then moved on to FC Winterthur, again on a free transfer, where he made 32 league appearances and scored 3 goals before his contract there expired.
Fofana joined Sochaux on a free transfer on 1 July 2025, signing a two-year contract. Every major transfer of his career so far has come without a fee changing hands, either as a loan or a free move.
