About the player
Bright Osayi-Samuel won the Turkish Cup with Fenerbahçe in the 2022–23 season. He scored seven league goals for the Istanbul club. The PulseSports30 list of the top 30 players in the Turkish top flight for 2023–24 included him.
His route there ran through two English clubs. He came through the youth ranks at Blackpool in 2014–15 and turned professional there. He played 79 senior games for them, 64 of them in the league, and scored five league goals. In September 2017 he moved to Queens Park Rangers as a free agent. At QPR he played 115 times, 103 in the league, and scored 13 league goals.
Fenerbahçe agreed the deal in January 2021, but he finished the 2020–21 season at QPR and only registered with the Turkish side that summer.
His contract in Istanbul ran out in July 2025, and he joined Birmingham City on a free transfer. He signed a three-year deal that runs to 2028. He has made 27 appearances for the club.
Osayi-Samuel plays for Nigeria. His debut came on 17 November 2022 in a friendly against Portugal. He has since won 22 caps and been part of the Super Eagles squads at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast in 2023 and in Morocco in 2025. He has also played in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
