About the player
Cassandra Korhonen's route to Køge ran through four countries. The Swedish forward started out at Gideonsbergs IF before moving through Västerås BK 30, where she scored 26 goals in 50 appearances, and IK Uppsala Fotboll, with 29 goals in 45 matches. She then moved to Åland United in Finland, where she managed 21 goals in just 23 games.
The move to S.L. Benfica in 2021 brought her first major honour, a Portuguese league title in the 2021–22 season. She then spent three seasons in Switzerland with Servette FC Chênois, scoring 19 goals in 46 appearances before joining HB Køge, the women's side formed from the merger of Køge BK and Herfølge BK.
Internationally, Korhonen represented Sweden at youth level, winning three caps and scoring once for the under-17s before adding a single appearance for the under-21s, without progressing to senior selection.
