Cyle Christopher Larin

Cyle Larin arrived at Orlando City as the first overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and did not take long to justify it, breaking the league's rookie scoring record with 17 goals and taking the Rookie of the Year award in his debut season. He went on to score 43 goals in 87 appearances for the club before Beşiktaş paid roughly $2.3 million to sign him in January 2018.

After a loan spell at Zulte Waregem, he returned to Beşiktaş and became a genuine scoring threat in the Süper Lig, finishing as joint top scorer in the 2020–21 season with 19 goals as the club won the league, the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup. From there he moved to Club Brugge on a free transfer, added a Belgian Super Cup to his collection, then spent a loan spell at Real Valladolid where he scored eight goals in 19 games.

It is with Canada, though, that Larin's numbers carry the most weight. He is the country's all-time leading scorer, having gone past Dwayne De Rosario, and by the end of 2024 had reached 78 caps and 30 goals. He was the top scorer in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying hexagonal ahead of the 2022 tournament with 13 goals, then played at that World Cup in Qatar and at the 2024 Copa América. He has also featured in multiple editions of the Gold Cup and the CONCACAF Nations League, picking up a silver medal in 2023 and bronze in 2025.
