About the player
Chris Mepham came through Chelsea's academy before switching to Brentford in 2012, signing his first professional contract in 2016 and making his senior debut the following January. He was named Brentford B Player of the Year for the 2016–17 season, and went on to make 43 league appearances for the club before AFC Bournemouth paid a club-record £12 million to sign him in January 2019.
At Bournemouth he made 107 league appearances and scored twice. A loan to Sunderland in August 2024: with Sunderland leading in the Championship play-off final against Sheffield United at Wembley in May 2025, Mepham was thrown on as a substitute for the injured Luke O'Nien inside the first two minutes. Sunderland held on to win 2–1 and secure promotion to the Premier League. He joined West Bromwich Albion permanently that August, in a deal worth around £1.5 million with add-ons for promotion.
Internationally, Mepham made his senior debut for Wales in March 2018 in a friendly against China, coming on for Ben Davies in a 6–0 win.
