About the player
Dennis-Yerai Eckert Ayensa, known also as Dennis Eckert, made his way up through Borussia Mönchengladbach's second team before a free move to Celta de Vigo.
His move to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise brought silverware: a Belgian Cup and a Belgian Super Cup. That form led to a loan at Standard Liège.
He received his first call-up in March 2026 for friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica, though a pending change of association meant he could not yet appear. He was granted an Iranian passport that May and was subsequently named in Iran's squad for the FIFA World Cup.
