About the player
Dion Hofmeister was born on 11 July 2009 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. He joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern's academy in 2018 as a ten-year-old, having started out at 1. FC 08 Haßloch, and worked his way through every youth level at the club, captaining the under-17 side along the way. He was promoted to the senior squad in 2025.
Hofmeister made his professional debut on 23 November 2025, coming on as a substitute in a 4–1 win over Holstein Kiel in the 2. Bundesliga. At 16, he became the youngest player to debut for Kaiserslautern in the division. Because of legal restrictions on gambling advertising for players under 18, he wore a special jersey without the club's sponsor for that appearance. As an academy graduate, his path to the first team involved no transfer fees. The following month, in December 2025, he signed a long-term contract extension with Kaiserslautern that runs until 30 June 2028.
At international level, Hofmeister has represented Germany at youth level, playing for the under-16 side against Austria in September 2024. He stepped up to the under-17 team for his debut on 13 February 2026, in the Algarve Cup against Finland, and scored in a 7–0 win.
A tall, right-footed midfielder, he stands 188cm.
