Domenik Schierl

Domenik Schierl spent much of his youth in the Red Bull system, joining the academy at Salzburg before working through the Juniors side and FC Liefering, where he won the Regionalliga West title in 2013. A move to 1. Wiener Neustädter SC followed in 2014, and he signed for SC Austria Lustenau on a free transfer in 2019, initially for a single season with an option to extend.

That short-term deal turned into a long stay. Schierl became a fixture between the posts for Lustenau and earned cult status among the club's supporters for his consistency. The high point came in the 2021–22 season, when he was the club's starting goalkeeper as Austria Lustenau won the 2. Liga title and secured promotion to the Bundesliga. He was rated statistically as the fourth-best goalkeeper in the division that season.

He has since extended his contract with the club, most recently through to 2026. When Lustenau were relegated from the Bundesliga in 2024, Schierl had offers to move elsewhere but turned them down, saying his connection to the club kept him there.

He has not been capped by Austria's senior national team, and his career has been built almost entirely around Lustenau and the clubs that shaped him on the way up.
