Eduardo Celmi Camavinga

Eduardo Celmi Camavinga was born in Cabinda, Angola, and began playing at the local club Drapeau-Fougères in the Brittany town of Fougères. At just 11 he joined the youth academy of Stade Rennais, where he progressed through the ranks before appearing for the reserve side, Rennes II, in the 2018–19 season. He signed his first professional contract in December 2018 and made his senior debut for Rennes in April 2019 at 16, a season in which the club won the Coupe de France. That August, he was named UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Month, becoming the award's youngest ever winner.

Real Madrid signed Camavinga on 31 August 2021, for a fee reported at a base of €31 million with add-ons taking it towards €40 million. He initially put pen to paper until 2027, a deal later extended to 2029. Since arriving in the Spanish capital, he has won two La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns, a Copa del Rey, two Supercopa de España titles, two UEFA Super Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

With France, Camavinga won the UEFA Nations League in 2020–21 and reached the final of the 2022 World Cup. He was runner-up for the Kopa Trophy that same year and was named to the IFFHS Men's Youth World Team in three separate seasons. His campaigns have not been free of setbacks: a knee blow during the 2023 Spanish Super Cup, a further knee injury before the 2024 UEFA Super Cup, and a ruptured left adductor tendon in April 2025 that kept him out for months, including the Copa del Rey final and the Club World Cup. In September 2026, new France manager Zinedine Zidane recalled him to the national squad after Didier Deschamps had left him out of the 2026 World Cup selection.
