About the player
El Hadj Mory Koné spent years training as a midfielder before Clermont Foot converted him into a left-back. Raised in Étampes, he started out at FC Étampes before a move to FC Fleury 91, then joined Clermont's academy in 2023.
He worked his way through the reserve side, Clermont Foot 63 B, making 35 appearances there, and was part of the club's U19 group that reached the last 16 of the Coupe Gambardella in the 2022–23 season. His senior debut came in Ligue 2 against Saint-Étienne on 17 January 2026, and he did not need long to make himself a fixture in the side. He signed his first professional contract on 25 February 2026, tying him to the club until June 2029.
Koné made 16 Ligue 2 appearances in the 2025/2026 season without scoring, but set up two goals, including one against Amiens. He also featured twice in the Coupe de France. By September 2026 he had already added four more league appearances in the new campaign.
Internationally, Koné has represented Ivory Coast at youth level, winning two caps for the U23 side at the 2026 Maurice Revello Tournament without finding the net.
