About the player
Massamba Ndiaye grew up in Thiès before Pau FC brought him to France in August 2021. He made his professional debut for Pau in Ligue 2 against Bastia on 5 February 2022, and while working his way up he also turned out for the club's reserve side, Pau B, in Championnat National 2 during the 2022–23 season.
Standing 202 centimetres tall, Ndiaye moved to Clermont Foot 63 in August 2023 on a four-year contract running to June 2027, for a fee that was not disclosed. He arrived as understudy to Mory Diaw, and the chance to start came when Diaw left for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations — Ndiaye took over as Clermont's first-choice goalkeeper for that spell.
His move from Pau to Clermont left a mark off the pitch too: CNEPS Excellence pursued a FIFA case over unpaid training compensation, and Pau FC was barred from international recruitment until the debt was settled.
At international level, Ndiaye has one cap for Senegal's under-23 side. He was left out of the senior squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and in November 2024 he was named in a preliminary list for Senegal's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, only to be withdrawn before the final squad was announced.
