About the player
Ferdy Druijf arrived at Almere City as a free agent on a one-year deal with an option for a second season. He came through the AZ Alkmaar youth ranks, and it was at Jong AZ that he first made his mark, winning the Tweede Divisie title in the 2016/17 season before being promoted to the first team.
At NEC Nijmegen he scored 15 goals in 20 appearances, and during a season split with KV Mechelen he added nine in 34. His best individual campaign came on loan at NEC's level of the Eerste Divisie, where in 2018/19 he finished as the division's top scorer with 29 goals and picked up the Golden Championship Shield for Best Talent. In 2020, with a move to Preston North End on the table, he turned it down and instead saw his first-team chances at AZ dry up.
A switch to SK Rapid Wien followed, initially on loan with an option to buy worth around €2.8 million, made permanent that summer. He was at the Austrian club, interrupted by a loan back to PEC Zwolle where he scored five goals in 15 games, before a serious knee injury ruled him out for the entirety of the 2024–25 season. His contract with Rapid was terminated by mutual consent in February 2025. Druijf has represented the Netherlands at U17, U18 and U20 level, without a senior cap to his name.
