Géza Dávid Turi

Géza Dávid Turi was born in Hungary but plays for the Faroe Islands, and it was in Faroese football that he made his name. He came through the academy at Víkingur Gøta, joined the senior squad in 2020 and stayed until January 2025, making 118 league appearances and scoring eight goals.

Recognition came early. In 2021 he was named Faroese Youth Male Footballer of the Year, and a year later he was part of the Víkingur side that won the Faroese Cup. His strongest spell came in the 2023–24 season. Víkingur won the Faroese Premier League, and Turi was voted the league's Midfielder of the Year. He also took the Player of the Month award in both March and April 2024.

That form led to England. In January 2025 Grimsby Town signed him from Víkingur. The fee was not announced officially; reports put it at around 700,000 Danish kroner, roughly £80,000.

Turi acquired Faroese citizenship and made his senior debut for the national team on 5 September 2025. He came on as a substitute in a 2026 World Cup qualifier away to Croatia, which the Faroe Islands lost 1–0. Little more than two months later, on 14 November 2025, he scored his first international goal against the same opponents. He struck in the 18th minute, though Croatia won the match 3–1. He has since won nine caps and scored once.

A right-footed central midfielder, Turi has moved from a domestic title-winning side to the English league system within a few seasons.
