About the player
Günay Güvenç grew up in Germany, born in Neu-Ulm, before joining Stuttgarter Kickers' academy in 2009. He made his professional debut there in 2010 and stayed with the club until 2013, when Beşiktaş signed him for an undisclosed fee. Even so, he was part of the Beşiktaş squad that won the Süper Lig in 2015–16, and the following year he was named in Turkey's Team of the Year while still on the club's books.
A free transfer took him to Göztepe in 2016, where he helped the side win promotion to the Süper Lig the following season. Two years later he moved on to Gazişehir Gaziantep, later renamed Gaziantep FK, and included a loan to Kasımpaşa for the closing months of that season.
Galatasaray signed him in August 2023, a deal reported at €250,000 that also sent Batuhan Şen the other way to Gaziantep on loan, and his contract has since been extended to 2028. He has won back-to-back Süper Lig titles with the club, in 2023–24 and 2024–25, added the Turkish Super Cup and the Turkish Cup, and in 2025 received the TFF Fair Play and Social Responsibility Award. Güvenç has represented Turkey's A2 national team four times.
