Isaac Schmidt

Isaac Schmidt came through the youth ranks at FC Lausanne-Sport before signing his first professional contract there in June 2019. His breakthrough came in June 2020, when he made his professional debut as the club won the Swiss Challenge League and earned promotion to the Swiss Super League, where he played through the 2020/21 campaign.

In June 2021 Schmidt moved to FC St. Gallen, where he spent three seasons, making 108 appearances across all competitions with seven goals and eight assists. The high point of that spell came in 2021–22, when St. Gallen reached the final of the Swiss Cup, though the club finished as runners-up.

That form earned him a move to Leeds United in August 2024 for a reported fee of around £2.5 million on a four-year contract. His first season in England brought a Championship title with Leeds, but he featured sparingly, restricted to 12 league appearances and two in the FA Cup. In August 2025 he joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan with an option to buy, though Bremen chose not to take it up once the loan ended.

Schmidt has also broken into the Switzerland national team, making his debut on 21 March 2025 in a friendly against Northern Ireland that finished 1-1, playing 68 minutes. He has since won further caps for his country without yet scoring at international level.
