Junior Chukwubuike Adamu

Junior Adamu was born in Kano, Nigeria, but his football education began in Graz, where he played for GSV Wacker and Grazer AK before joining the Red Bull Salzburg academy in 2015. He worked his way up through the club's youth sides, finishing as the U16 team's top scorer with 21 goals in the 2016/17 season, and by 2018 had moved into the pipeline that runs through FC Liefering, Salzburg's feeder club.

Adamu spent three years on loan at Liefering while also being registered with Salzburg's senior squad, making his first-team debut in 2020. A loan to FC St. Gallen in Switzerland followed in February 2021 for the remainder of that season. Back at Salzburg, he became a title winner twice over, lifting the Austrian Bundesliga in 2021–22 and 2022–23, and adding the ÖFB-Cup in the first of those campaigns.

In the summer of 2023 he left Austria for Germany, joining SC Freiburg in a permanent deal reported at around €6 million. At international level, Adamu represents Austria rather than his country of birth, having made his senior debut against Israel in November 2021; he has gone on to earn nine caps.

During his time at Freiburg, Adamu was sent out on loan again, this time to Celtic in Scotland for the 2025–26 season, where he added a Scottish Premiership winner's medal to his collection.
